How to Show or Hide Markdown Markup?

SideNotes uses Markdown for formatting, but by default it hides the markup characters. You see bold text as bold, not wrapped in asterisks. Headings look like headings, not lines starting with hashes. This is called invisible Markdown — you get the formatting without the visual clutter.

If you ever need to see the raw Markdown, click the Aa button in the bottom bar of the note and choose Show Markdown.

The markup characters will appear. To hide them again, click Aa and choose Hide Markdown.

You can also toggle this with a keyboard shortcut: R.
