Data Location

Since SideNotes 1.3

Your notes are stored in a sqlite-based database file and (if you have iCloud synchronization enabled) are synchronized between your devices automatically.

There are 2 data locations on your disk. You can quickly access them by opening Preferences → Data.

~/Library/Application Support/SideNotes

It contains the database files and images. Do not modify these files manually.

~/Library/Application Support/com.apptorium.SideNotes-paddle

The actual path might be different according to where you got the app from:

  • App Store: ~/Library/Containers/com.apptorium.SideNotes/Data/Library/Application Support/com.apptorium.SideNotes
  • Our Website: ~/Library/Application Support/com.apptorium.SideNotes-paddle
  • Setapp: ~/Library/Application Support/com.apptorium.SideNotes-setapp

It contains data from older version of SideNotes (up to 1.3), themes and automatic backups. You can also choose custom folder for the backups.

Up to SideNotes 1.3

All your notes are stored na JSON file (data.json). Preferences are saved in User Defaults. Images are stored in images folder.

Data directory location depends on where you bought the app from. You can simply find it out by entering Preferences → Data and clicking Open Data Folder button.
