SideNotes for iOS / iPadOS joins its macOS version to sync users notes

Zielona Góra, Poland - the indie development team Apptorium is happy to announce the release and immediate availability of SideNotes for iPhone and iPad. The app can synchronize notes between Mac, iPhone and iPad. Now users can take their notes wherever they are.

SideNotes for iPhone and iPad allows users to:

  • Using Slide Over on iPad: Smoothly pull out notes from the edge of the display and easily hide them again
  • Organize notes in folders
  • Mark notes with colors (background)
  • Choose a theme (thirteen themes to choose from)
  • Drag and drop pictures directly from other apps (available on iPadOS, in Slide Over and Split View mode)
  • Save links, code snippets and colors
  • Create task lists and mark items done
  • Create notes directly from the pasteboard
  • Three text formatting modes are available: Markdown, Plain Text and Code
  • Set light or dark mode
  • Synchronize notes via iCloud

The app keeps notes in folders, each note can have one of six colors.

Using Markdown syntax, users can format text quickly. Formatting is rendered on the fly, allowing users to format text without knowing syntax. A text formatting button displays a menu of various text formatting options.

Markdown formatting can be disabled by choosing Plain Text, or Code mode. Developers will appreciate Code mode, as it allows them to store short code snippets. SideNotes iPadOS also allows users to drop images into notes from saved images or drag-and-drop them directly from a web browser. The image size is automatically adjusted to the note's width. SideNotes also stores the original image, so when a user taps it, the original image opens.

How is the app different from SideNotes for macOS

The app behaves mostly the same way as the macOS version, but the developer didn't want to make an exact copy of it. Mobile User Interfaces are simpler. The app comes with basic features, but it also provides some extra ones not available on macOS. Due to technical differences of operating systems, mobile version doesn't support file shortcuts. On iPadOS, user can also use SlideOver to have a similar way of accessing the app like on macOS.

iPhone / iPad version offers edit mode while editing notes (in contrary to macOS, where note is editable without changing modes).

System Requirements

  • iOS 15 or iPadOS 15
