Automating License Store with URL Links

License Store provides a license-store URL scheme for simple automation and app-to-app integration.

You can use these links from launchers, scripts, Shortcuts, websites, documentation, or your own app to add a license entry or show an existing one.

URL Format

License Store links use this scheme:

license-store:///

The action comes after the triple slash. For example:

license-store:///add
license-store:///show

Query values should be URL-encoded, especially when they contain spaces, e-mail addresses, license keys, or web links.

Add a License

Use license-store:///add to create a new key-based license entry.

The easiest way to create an add link is to use the built-in Add License URL Generator. It handles URL encoding for you and is especially useful when values contain spaces, e-mail addresses, license keys, or web links.

Open Add License URL Generator from the Tools menu, fill in the fields you want to include, and copy the generated link.

Add License URL generator

The generator can include application details, license details, website and download links, notes, expiration settings, and the number of activations.

It can also fill the form from an existing License Store entry. That is useful when you want to create a reusable link based on data you already saved.

Generated License Store URL

If you need to create the URL manually, start with:

license-store:///add?name=Example%20App

The name parameter is required. Other parameters are optional.

Parameter Description
name Required app name for the new License Store entry.
bundleID App bundle identifier, for example com.example.app. It is useful when matching the entry with an installed app.
key License key, serial number, activation code, or other text-based license value.
licenseName Name assigned to the license, such as a person or company name.
email Purchase or registration e-mail address.
version App version connected with the license, if relevant.
activationLink URL used to activate, redeem, or register the license.
website URL of the application or vendor website.
downloadURL URL where the application can be downloaded.
notes Notes to add to the License Store entry.
canExpire Use true when the license or updates have an expiration date.
expirationDate Expiration date in yyyy-MM-dd format, for example 2027-12-31.
expirationScope What expires: entireLicense or updatesOnly. Common variants such as entire-license and updates-only also work.
numberOfActivations Number of activations, seats, or devices included in the license.

Example:

license-store:///add?name=Example%20App&bundleID=com.example.app&key=ABCD-1234&licenseName=Jane%20Doe&email=jane@example.com&website=https%3A%2F%2Fexample.com&downloadURL=https%3A%2F%2Fexample.com%2Fdownload&canExpire=true&expirationDate=2027-12-31&expirationScope=updatesOnly&numberOfActivations=5

Entries created with this URL use License Store's key-based license type.

Show an Existing App

Use license-store:///show to bring an existing entry into view in License Store.

You can search by app name:

license-store:///show?name=Example%20App

Or by bundle identifier:

license-store:///show?bundleID=com.example.app

If both are provided, License Store checks the name first.

Bundle identifiers are usually more precise, so use them when you have one.

Practical Uses

URL links are useful when you want to:

  • add a license from a vendor page or setup guide
  • open a saved license from another app
  • create personal shortcuts
  • connect documentation with License Store
  • include License Store integration in your own app
